’The Green Box’ is a huge success

‘The Green Box’, an interactive exhibition presenting 100 cool vocational training programmes available for students in Odense, Denmark, is a huge success. Especially among 7th graders. Since the exhibition opened in October 2015, 47 schools, 155 classes and 2809 students in grade 7 to 10 have visited the exhibition and 60 classes with students aged 18 to 29, who are participating in a jobseeking/educational-programme, have seen it too.

Jørgen B. Jensen, Education Advisor at Odense Municipality says –

”’The Green Box’ has evoked a lot of enthusiasm among students as well as teachers. Combining analogue and digital features is ingenious because it reflects the reality of the vocational education programmes. This is how they work too. A concrete task and a little bit of IT. ‘The Green Box’ presents our vocational educations in a fun and informative manner. Here the youngsters can identify educations by listening and watching. Watch an animated movie. Put tiles in patterns just like a plasterer. Meet companies and educational institutions, hear about their options with regards to getting an internship or, perhaps, even get an appointment.”

Odense municipality operates ‘The Green Box’, which has been developed in liason with Kold College, Syddansk Erhvervsskole and Social- og Sundhedsskolen Fyn og Tietgen. Kvorning Design & Communication has designed exhibitions, animated movies, interactive design, lighting and more.

Team selected to design Danish film city

Together with AART architects, SLA, Ramboll and Kvorning Design & Communication have won the competition to extend Filmby Aarhus and transform it into a creative hub, not only for filmmakers, but for the entire city of Aarhus. The competition was launched in March by Filmby Aarhus and Aarhus Municipality in order to promote a positive development of the film city and add new qualities and experiences to the area where Aarhus harbour meets the city centre.

“The task opens up new opportunities to strengthen the film city’s status as a creative catalyst in Aarhus. By turning the film city inside out and bringing it to eye level with the surrounding city, we aim to create an eventful public venue while promoting new forms of cooperation – all with a focus on creating an integrated creative hub as an active and attractive part of the city,” says Anders Tyrrestrup, a partner at AART architects.

Prison Museum with Exceptional Atmosphere and Authenticity

The Prison Museum in Horsens, Denmark, reopened on 20th May 2015, marking the 162nd anniversary of the institution. For several months the museum and Kvorning Design & Communication have worked together on concept development, exhibition design and implementation to create an exhibition with an exceptional atmosphere and authenticity. The exhibition was funded with contributions from Arbejdsmarkedets Feriefond (9.8 million DKK) and Horsens Municipality (2.8 million DKK).

Now visitors at the Prison Museum in Horsens, Denmark, can experience the prison world from several new perspectives, taking the point of view of former inmates as well as guards, as the second phase (of three in total) of the ongoing expansion of the museum’s exhibitions has reopened. Taking up even more space at the former state prison, the exhibitions are more advanced than ever and apply AV-technology to offer the visitors original features. For instance, on arrival guests can choose from ten authentic identities and get a personalized experience facilitated by RFID technology as they move around the premises. The prison comes to life through new technologies, ambient and dramatic historic narratives, animations, lighting, sounds and analogue means, which give adults as well as youngsters authentic and personal insights.

Green, greener, ‘The Garden Town of Fredensborg’

Joint efforts by Kvorning Design & Communication, Architect Kristine Jensens Tegnestue, Praksis Architects and Tage Petersen, Centre for Regional & Tourism Research paid off as the team were elected winner of the Fredensborg Municipality and  Realdania cityspace and dissemination project -’Future Fredensborg – Identity and modern city life in the historical castle town’ with the proposal ’The Garden Town of Fredensborg’

’The Garden Town of Fredensborg’ is the best choice. The proposal builds upon current qualities, encompasses its own, very legible, poetry and uses the existing garden and park culture as a point of departure for a greener identity. The dissemination of the history of the town and the castle will take place in a visitors’ centre, which can be built – perhaps this is the most optimal location– in the existing facilities, the committee concluded.
